Bert on Beats [Man Recordings, Estonia]
Bert on Beats is the hottest new artist to release on Berlin based label Man Recordings.
The Tallinn, Estonia based DJ fuses the rich legacy of UK bass science with the beat alchemy of Angolan Kuduro and other „New World“ genres , establishing a trans-national, hyper-hybrid sound that directs towards the future.
Call his sound as Tropicalbass or Globalbass. In between his official releases, hes beeing busy with remixing for Vybz Kartel, Buraka Som Sistema, Gotan Project, TombCrew Munchi ft. Mr. Lexx, Gaudi and BabyBlue etc.
His tracks currently get support from world class DJs such as: Diplo, Sinden, Skream, KissySellout, Toddla T, Feadz, Mixhell, Buraka Som Sistema, Munchi, Foamo and Douster to name a few.
Klipar (Zombies For Money) [No Brainer, Basserk, Portogallo]
He went to school, like most of us. He got a glimpse of love in school, like most of us. Unlike most regular people, however, Klipar (also known as Diogo Cunha) also took school as an opportunity to get started as a DJ – playing those parties where drinking and kissing go hand in hand (you know the type – we’re sure you were there too).
Soon after, he took a stab at trance music and realized how somehow, DJing made total sense. These days, the sound has changed, and the skills improved. He’s playing UK Funky, Garage, Bass, House and some Electro – and people are paying attention.
When the producer and DJ from Lisbon Diogo Cunha is not rocking dance floors together with DJ Manaia on the Zombies For Money project, he prefers to explore a more restrained and melodic bass music under the name Klipar. After a series of releases on labels such as German No Brainer or Dutch Bazzerk together a number of originals and remixes to share through his Soundcloud page, Klipar’s reputation as a solo artist has grown exponentially to become one of the more recognizable friend the night of the grave of the Portuguese capital.
Ackeejuice Rockers [Overcooked Recs, Italia]
Hailing from Bassano Del Grappa (Venice), Ackeejuice Rockers are a DJ duo emerging from the urban culture and currently exploring the new sounds of global bass music, moombahton and dancehall. The blend created by the warm sounds of black music and the more synthy ones of electronic music is the starting point the duo tapped into. Pressing rhythms and a fast tempo suddenly break to leave room to moombahton and trap segments, without compromising the hype. King P and Ali Selecta are part of the winners of Ursa Major Remix Competition, organised by the eclectic New York-based label Trouble & Bass. Their ‘Wade In The Water” remix has been published by Mad Decent on their SoundCloud Roundup. Released on Overcooked Records, their current project, Freeze EP, includes remixes from Klipar (Zombies For Money), Boyfriend and Neki Stranac and serves as their introduction to the global bass music scene, alongside some publications with La Valigetta and 24Bit.
Jack The Hustler [Overcooked Recs, Finlandia]
Jack the Hustler consists of two electronic music producers from Finland. They both started out as drummers, but they found out that their passion laid somewhere else. Their new home was found in electronic music.
They started producing in late 2009 and with endless studio hours they evolved their sound towards house music, the kind of house they wanted. “Hustlin House Music.”
Their debut EP on Overcooked Records got featured on Trackitdown and support from elite players such as DK (Ninja Tune), Tomb Crew, Lorcan Mak, Top Billin, and several others. The Finnish duo also got invited to appear on Ninja Tune’s Solid Steel Radio Show for the first episode of 2012 alongside Bonobo & DK himself.
Calski [Overcooked Recs, Uk]
Calski is a “Bass Music” producer and dj from Bristol, UK. He has always had a huge interest in music from when he was first introduced to a saxophone at the age of 10. He continued to learn the saxophone along with other instruments until the age of 20 when he decided to move his focus onto electronic music production.
The past 2 years has seen Calski rise up through the ranks of the UK underground scene; becoming one of the most talked about up and comers in the South West.
At the age of 23, Calski has played at some of the biggest and best venues around the South West of England along with a guest appearance on ‘GetDarkerTV’ (recognised as Dubstep’s most established brand name in the world.)
Calski has played at various different nights around the UK alongside some of the industry’s top artists such as Chase & Status, Nero, MJ Cole, Mensah, Emalkay, Joker, Shy FX, Grooverider, Distance, Sub Focus, Mista Jam, Danny Byrd, High Contrast, Royal T, Hatcha, Bar 9, Funtcase, Von D and many more.
Ckrono & Slesh [Bass Squad, Italia]
Ckrono & Slesh are two DJs and producers who emerged strongly from the fertile underground of Florence (Italy) which in recent years launched some of the best Italian EDM talents (Numa Crew & Digi G’Alessio just to name a few). They come from different musical backgrounds but together they represent the perfect fusion of eclectic music for any party anytime, anywhere. Their sound, developed with great mixing technique, has a predisposition to the evolving bass culture and is enriched with tropical flavours. You can feel the devotion to Hip Hop, the energy of Drum’n'bass, the broken rhythms of Breakbeat and the Dubstep synth-bass lines. Their remix and edit in the newborn edm hype genre Moombahton received thousands of downloads worldwide. During 2012, their sound has been evolved towards new musical horizons such as Juke, Trap and Hardstyle (150-160 bpm) while maintaining their musical identity. For instance, their remix of Milangele’s Blue Sky (100% PresiBene) has amazed audiences and critics for its originality and power. Both come with the new live / dj sets “Machete Bass”, in which the music club blends perfectly with the Afro-Caribbean and South American sounds, powered by powerful lazer basses and irresistibly sexy rhythm. They have big plans for the future as long as they are about to drop several new remixes for rising big names of the international tropical/global bass scene like Ackeejuice Rockers, Gato Preto, Digi G’Alessio, Dj Kiff (Meanbucket). A SKITZO [Torpedo Unit, Sarajevo]
A Skitzo inizia la sua carriera nel 2000 sotto lo pseudonimo “dj Ahmaad”, e oggi è uno dei più noti ed influenti dj della regione balcanica. Il suo stile rappresenta al meglio la sua città, Sarajevo, unica per essere da sempre popolata da un miscuglio etnico, religioso e culturale fino a qualche decennio fa rarissimo anche nelle grandi metropoli. Il “melting pot” di Ahmaad consinte invece in un mix di funk, hip hop, house, breakbeat, broken beat, jazz, sevdah, disco, electro e bass music. Nel 2003 inizia a condurre Truespin Radio Show, la sua prima trasmissione radio.
Successivamente darà vita ai progetti Stylin’ Club Nights, Kontra Sessions e Sound Flaster. Nel 2004 è stato selezionato per partecipare alla Red Bull Music Academy, che quell’anno si è tenuta a Roma. Negli anni successivi si è esibito in numerosi club, eventi e festival come ad esempio al Sonar di Barcellona, nel 2006. Ha partecipato a vari workshop in Bosnia, Croazia, Slovenia e Serbia, tra cui Master Class, che ha condotto insieme a Josh Wink durante EXIT Festival 2010.
Una delle sue più grandi ambizioni è quella di passare le sue conoscenze, la tecnica e l’esperienza nel djing e nella produzione alle nuove generazioni. Negli ultimi anni ha avuto la fortuna di condividere il palco con artisti come Beastie Boys, Snoop Dogg, Wu-Tang Clan, Surkin, Plan B, Borgore, Paul Kalkbrenner, Sinden, Martelo, Moullinex, N-Type, Hatcha, Das Glow, Canblaster, Symbol One e tanti altri. Nel 2011 è stato inserito nella prestigiosissima line up della Dance Arena di EXIT Festival. Nell’estate 2012 è stato ospite di importantissimi festival come Hideout e Hartera, ed è stato riconfermato per EXIT, ma questa volta in main stage. Attualmente conduce una trasmissione per la radio parigina French Kiss FM, dove presenta i nuovi trend nella musica elettronica.
